Abstract
472,134. Brush - gear for dynamoelectric machines. SIEMENS - SCHUCKERTWERKE AKT.-GES. June 15, 1936, Nos. 16677, 16678, and 16679. Convention dates, June 15, 1935, June 27, 1935, and Sept. 16, 1935. [Class 35] The extent of wear of brushes in closed holders is indicated by providing the brush or a part moving therewith and lying within the brush enclosure with an indicating mark which moves as the brush wears towards a visible mark on the brush-holder or its cap. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the brush-holder is closed by a transparent cap 6 having a mark 11 to indicate the extreme position for the indicator 10 carried by a rod 9 fixed to the brush 2. The cap may extend through the outer casing of the motor. In the form shown in Fig. 3, a slot 48 is formed in the brushholder an edge of which slot is used as the fixed mark with which the mark on the brush 41 coincides when the limit of wear is reached. Transparent material may cover the slot.
