[Class 120 (iii)] In bobbin-stripping apparatus wherein the bobbin B is embraced at the butt by yarn stripping jaws b pivoted at b<1> and held closed by a spring b<3>, Figs. 1 and 2, and a reciprocating spindle k thrusts the bobbin endwise against the jaws b the operative is safeguarded by the provision of a trigger j which must be operated to actuate the spindle k, the travelling carriage f being disengaged after stripping is completed and returned to the starting position by weighted bands m while the trigger j is also re-set. The spindle k is mounted in the carriage f which is traversed to the right, Fig. 1, by a shaft e, screw-threaded at e<1> and provided with fast and loose pulleys e<x>. The carriage is connected to the threaded part of the shaft e by a horizontal plunger g having its fore-end formed as a half-nut. The upper face of the plunger g is formed with a notch g<1> and a spring- pressed vertical plunger h having a recess h<2> disposed thereabove, Figs. 3 and 4. An elongated triangular die i is provided between the notch g<1> and recess h<2> and serves to hold the half nut in or out of gear with the screw threads e<1>. In operation, after the bobbin is mounted in position the trigger j fulcrumed at j<1> is pressed so as to move the plunger g into gear with the threads e<1>, Fig. 3. the die i under pressure of the spring h<1> holding the parts in position. The carriage f moves to the right until the shoulder e<2> disengages the half-nut g, and the die i is clicked over, Fig. 4. The carriage f is then pulled back by the bands m in readiness for operation on another bobbin.
