Abstract
Waste and polluted sulphuric acid resulting from the parchment, artificial silk, and transparent paper industries is regenerated by heating or concentrating the acid and adding an oxidizing agent such as nitric acid, the addition being commenced at the moment when formation of a carbon sol sets in and continued gradually (in the manner of a titration) so that the carbon sol is oxidized as it is formed. Specifications 361,509, 387,569, and 441,452 are referred to.
