Abstract

470,431. Knife-edge bearings. AVERY, Ltd., W. & T., and TIMSON, W. May 23, 1936, No. 14607. [Class 12 (i)] A knife-edge bearing mounting comprises a sheet metal member having a vertical portion 4a with slots 4b and hole 4c for securing it to a fixed part 5 of a weighing apparatus, and a horizontal base 4d with side flanges 4e and end flange 4f. The base 4d has a transversely disposed rib 4g of arcuate cross-section, and the side flanges 4e converge towards the end flange 4f. An agate bearing 6 is mounted between the flanges 4e and when the base 4d is pressed within a slot formed in the part 5 the flanges 4e are pressed inwardly to grip the bearing 6 adjacent one end. This permits of a slight self-aligning movement of the bearing 6 about a vertical axis, while the rib 4g permits self-aligning about a horizontal axis.
