701,399. Bearings. PAPER PATENTS CO. June 5, 1951 [June 6, 1950], No. 13289/51. Class 12(1) A journal bearing comprises a main bearing 7 and an auxiliary bearing 8 arranged side by side to rotatably receive a shaft 6, the main bearing 7 being adjustably mounted by screw means 14, and the auxiliary bearing 8 is spring biased in the direction of load applied to the main bearing so as to hold the shaft 6 against lateral movement. The bearing 8 is supported on the upper end of a rod 19 which is vertically slidable through an opening 21 in a lug 22 secured to the main bearing mounting plate 71. A coil spring 24 is disposed between the lug 22 and a collar 25 on the rod 19.
