[Class 131] In a shaving device of the type comprising a handle containing an electric motor which operates a reciprocating toothed blade co - operating with a stationary plate the blade and plate are flat, the plate being slotted and turned over along a line extending transversely along the slots so as to form a serrated border enveloping the cutting edge of the blade. The stationary plate L may be of sheet-metal À010" thick formed with slots 140, Fig. 9, bevelled as shown at 138, 139 and bent over along the line 141 so as to envelope the reciprocating blade K as shown in Fig. 8. The blade K is of stainless steel À015-À020" thick and formed with teeth sloped off as shown in Fig. 8. The spacing between the teeth of the blade K is preferably twice that of the slots in the plate L. Suitable dimensions for the various bevels shown are given. The plate L is secured to the end of the casing of the device by a metal strip C having studs 145, Fig. 2, fitting into holes in the casing and turned over ends 146 engaging a bevel on the casing. The casing is also bevelled as shown at 148, Fig. 1, to facilitate the escape of the cut hair. The blade K is reciprocated by a lever 123, pivoted at 119 to the casing and reciprocated by a cam 110 on the shaft of a motor of the kind comprising an unwound three-armed armature on a shaft 63 which operates a make-and-break device controlling the circuit of a field magnet G.
