Abstract
469,529. Machine guns. SERVOFREIN DEWANDRE SOC. ANON. Oct. 19, 1936, No. 28349. Convention date, Oct. 17, 1936. [Class 92 (ii)] Relates to pneumatic devices for operating the trigger and safety locking mechanism of a machine gun, and consists in actuating the trigger pull-rod 21, Fig. 1, against the action of a spring 18 by a pneumatically-operated piston 9, a locking-bolt 42, actuated by a pneumatically-operated piston 30 being adapted to engage the rod 10 of the piston 9 to lock the rod 21 in the non-firing position. In the form shown, the piston 30, Fig. 2, is double-acting and is connected to the locking bolt 42 by a link 37 and lever 39. The admission of air under pressure to the side 31 of the piston under the control of a distributer (not shown) causes engagement of the locking-bolt as shown in Fig. 2 in a notch 44 of the rod 10. When air is admitted to the cylinder for recocking the striker c, a distributer is operated which also admits air to the side 32 of the piston 30 to release the bolt 42. The piston 30 is retained in its extreme positions by a spring catch 46 engaging notches 47, 48. A limited movement of the rod 21 against the action of a spring 20 is permitted when recocking the striker c into engagement with the sear a.
