Abstract

1437379 Double-barrel gun J CIZERON 29 May 1973 [31 May 1972] 25381/73 Heading F3C A twin-barrel gun has a single movable trigger for firing both barrels, said trigger being movable in first and second directions to fire the first and second barrels respectively. In one embodiment a trigger 20, Fig. 1, is pivotably mounted on a pin 19, is provided with a pressure surface 21 and is engaged by members 22, 23 which are slidably mounted in bores 16, 17 respectively of a block 11. The members 22, 23 extend into a transverse bore 13 of the block 11 and engage drive-transfer members 26, 27 which co-operate with members 24, 25 that are slidably mounted in holes 14, 15 formed in the block 11. When the trigger 20 is actuated in the clockwise direction a sear 4<SP>1</SP> is moved, via the members 23, 27 and 25, against a leaf spring 29 ; a hammer 5<SP>1</SP> is thereby released. When the trigger 20 is actuated in the anti-clockwise direction the sear 4 is moved and firing through the second barrel 2 is effected. In a modification the drive-transfer members 26, 27 and the members 24, 25 are replaced by levers 34, 35, Fig. 3, pivotally mounted at 33 on a member 32. The lever 34 is urged by a spring 40, Fig. 4, and sear 42 is provided with a lug 42a. The lever 35 is urged by a spring 41, Fig. 5, and sear 421 is provided with a lug 42<SP>1</SP>a. In another embodiment a trigger 55, Fig. 6, has an extension 54, is pivoted at 56, has a protrusion 54b which acts as a cam by engaging a fixed dowel 59 and is urged by a spring 58. In use if the trigger is pressed in an anticlockwise direction, a projection 60 thereon engages a projection 53 of a bell-crank lever 49, 50 so as to move the latter and effect the lifting of the sear 4<SP>1</SP> to fire through one barrel of the gun. Release of the trigger allows its return by the spring 58 and the trigger is then pressed in a clockwise direction to fire through the other barrel of the gun.
