Abstract

469,381. Self - levelling devices. PAGE, S. R. March 16, 1937, No. 7631. [Class 113 (i)] A table-top or other object is maintained in a horizontal position by mounting the object by means of a ball-and-socket joint 6 in a stand 1. On the lower part of the ball is mounted the rod 8 carrying a terminal weight 9. The self-levelling arrangement is rendered inoperative by raising the stop 16 into contact with the weight 9. The stop is actuated by a spring 17 which is guided by one of the side blocks 15 which serve as guides for stop 16. The ball- and-socket joint is constrained against movements about a vertical axis by springs 23. A cord 14 saturated with oil or grease lubricates the joint.
