Abstract

515,131. Wick burners. OLDHAM & SON, Ltd., and ROBERTS, A. O. June 29, 1938, No. 19323. [Class 75 (i)] The wick carrier tube 14 of a miner's or other oil lamp is adjusted relatively to a surrounding tube 16 for gastesting purposes by means of a rod 6 which passes through a tube 2 secured by liquid-tight joints to the top and. bottom of the oil vessel and carries a quickaction cam 8 coacting with a similar cam surface on the bottom of the tube 2. A spring 13 bearing on an arm 12 connecting the rod 6 to the tube 14 maintains the cam surfaces in contact. The tube 14 is secured, serrated, or grooved internally to prevent creeping or jumping of the wick.
