[Class 135] In a through - way rotary spherical valve comprising a spherical closure plug 2 which is either eccentric or bodily displaceable with respect to the axis about which it turns and has a diametral passage 4 of the same width as inlet passage 5, proper seating of the plug to ensure a fluidtight connection in the closed position is obtained by forming that part of the plug which engages the 'seat 7 as a separate universally mounted cap or segment 8 as shown in Figs. 1, 2 or alternatively by forming the seat as separate ring 8a mounted ball-andsocketwise in the valve casing as shown in Fig. 6. The plug 2, Figs. 1, 2, is supported by two pivots 3 whose axes are displaced an amount # from the centre of the spherical plug 2. The upper pivot 3 is non-rotatably connected to a disc valve 9 spring-pressed against a cap 12. In the closed position of the plug 2, holes 10 in the valve 9 register with corresponding holes in the cap 12 to allow fluid to be drained or vented from the outlet 6. In a modification, the lower pivot 3 is connected to the plug by blade springs so that the plug is resiliently forced to its seating. In Fig. 6, the turning and seating movements are effected by separate handles 15, 16. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a cock with a cap 8, Fig. 7 (Cancelled) universally mounted on an eccentric tubular pivot 3a serving as the outlet. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
