[Class 53] A positive electrode for a battery is provided with a depolarizer comprising active carbon or other carbonaceous substance such as wood charcoal or peat coke which will liberate at least 25 cc. of oxygen within three minutes when À2 gr. of the substance is suspended in 100 cc. of water and treated with 25 cc. of a three per cent solution of hydrogen peroxide. Metallic salts that accelerate the decomposition of hydrogen peroxide may be added to the depolarizer.
