Abstract

467,989. Propelling aircraft by fluid reaction. ENDRES, H., and BACHMANN, E. Dec. 27, 1935, No. 35825. Convention date, Dec. 31, 1934. [Class 4] Driving units as described in Specification 424,546 are arranged in aircraft in the direction of the relative wind so that air meeting the craft is admitted to them. In one form, an aircraft fuselage has frames 3 ...... 10 and a cylinder 13 supported by the frames 3 ... 7 and which may accommodate a cockpit. The units are distributed around the cylinder 13 and are situated in ducts having tapered inlets 15 and outlets 16. The units are built in forward of the centre of gravity of the aircraft. An auxiliary compressor is provided to facilitate starting. The units may, alternatively or in addition, be arranged in the wings and may be orientable to effect directional control.
