467,861. Artificial legs. DESOUTTER, A. M. Feb. 27, 1936, No. 5909. [Class 81 (ii)] Means for securing the bucket of an artificial leg to a pelvic band comprises a bifurcated metal strap d connected to the pelvic band a by a bearer c, each of the bifurcated ends of the strap being rigidly clamped to a taut flexible metal cable or strip e, one being secured to the front of the bucket and another to the rear. Suitable securing means consist of clamps f, a hole being drilled in each clamp and opened out at one end. When in position, the ends of the strands of the cable are forced apart, and the spaces filled with solder. The clamps h on the stirrup d are made in two halves, a cylindrical or waisted groove being formed therein to accommodate the cable. The inner surface of the groove may be roughened. The height of the bearer may be adjusted by altering the position of the clamps h on the strips e. One or both of the cables may be disposed at an angle to the axis of the leg so that this may be forced inwards.
