[Class 80 (ii)] The spring-loaded pressure plate 4, Fig. 1, of a friction clutch is retracted by radial levers 11, each of which is formed as a sheet steel stamping and has a rounded portion 15 fulcruming on a flat washer 13 carried by a pin 12 fixed to the cover plate 2 while the outer end of the lever is connected to a lug 8 projecting from the plate 4 by an encircling tension link 19, the latter having a knife edge bearing in a recess 24 in the lug 8 while a roller 27 is interposed between a plane edge 28, Fig. 3, of the link and a curved socket 26 in the lever. The tapered end of each pin 12 engages an aperture in the lever. Outstanding portions 29 of the edge 28 of the link position the roller and the corners of these portions 29 are free to engage the walls of the socket 26 so as to prevent lateral displacement of the link. Anti-rattle springs 16 are connected between the cover 2 and the levers. In another form, each lever 11<a>, Figs. 5 and 6, has a rounded projection 36 bearing against a flat washer 35 carried by a pin 32 secured to the pressure plate 4a, and a compression link 37 has a knife edge 41 bearing on the cover 2a while a roller 27<a> is interposed between the other plane edge 42 of the link and a curved socket 26<a> in the end of the lever. Ears 38 on the link extend through openings in the cover and ears 44 embrace the lever. Portions 43 outstanding from the edge 42 position the roller and prevent lateral displacement of the link. Anti-rattle springs 16a are fitted. The driven clutch plate 7 may be constructed as disclosed in Specification 463,758.
