Abstract

464,789. Aerials. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., and TRUMP, E. H. Oct. 24, 1935, No. 29406. [Class 40 (v)] [Also in Group X] An aerial is mounted, say on the roof of a motor-vehicle, in a resilient manner so that it will " give " without damage should it strike against an obstruction. As shown, the aerial comprises a number of tubes 7 of different diameters, so that they fit into one another. They are held together by an inner cord 8 which is wound on to a bobbin 9 housed in a recess at the base. When out of use, this cord allows the aerial to be dismantled into sections, and folded up, whilst still loosely strung together. The resilient mounting consists of two helical springs 1, 2, mounted on an insulating base 3, the outer spring being compressed and the inner one being stretched. A flexible conductor 6 shortcircuits the spring-mounting and feeds the aerial currents to the lead-in wire 5.
