[Class 140] [Also in Group IX] Artificial fur is made from a cotton fabric &c. having interwoven floats or loops of animal fibre sliver or yarn on its surface which is scratched up to form hair, the back of the fabric &c. having secured thereto one or more layers of Japanese or other paper, the layers of paper having their fibres extending in different directions. The paper is treated with glue, gelatine &c. to secure it to the fabric and obtain the same air permeability as is present in the fur desired, e.g. goat, iabbit, squirrel or kangaroo &c., and it may be hardened by treatment with glycerine. A waterproofing treatment may be applied to the fur. Various solutions of isinglass, gelatine and gum arabic, which may be used for treating the paper are specified.
