Abstract
464,201. Friction clutches ; linkwork. AKT.-GES. VORM. SEIDEL & NAUMANN, and EIBERT, F. Nov. 9, 1936, No. 30435. [Classes 80 (ii) and 80 (iii)] One member g, Fig. 1, of a friction clutch for conveying rotary, arcuate, or rectilinear motion, has a plane face adapted to be engaged by arched elements f carried by the other member d and formed of rubber or other resilient material, the elements rolling upon the member g and being distorted in the direction opposite to the direction of movement upon contact with the member g, whereby an adhesive action is set up. The elements f are formed of bent rubber strips secured by clasps e. Alternatively, the elements f may be carried on both sides of a loose member h, Fig. 5, arranged between a pair of plane-faced clutch members d, g. In this case, the elements may be secured by clasps, or they may be integral with the rubber member h, as shown. In the case of clutches for conveying rectilinear or arcuate motion, the loose member h is guided.
