Abstract

464,041. Knitting. LEIMBROCK, P. Oct. 10, 1935, No. 28026. [Class 74 (ii)] To enable either end of a rib top knitted as part of a continuous series of tops to be transferred to a row of needles, intermediate courses are put in between the slack course 3 terminating the one top and the initial course 5 of the next succeeding top, as follows : First a few rib courses 4, then a course 8 of royal rib followed by a rib course 9 and a separating course 1, also in rib. The course 1 is pressed off the frame needles, the corresponding loops of the courses 9 and 8 being thereby released. A few courses 7 of rib fabric are then worked, followed by a royal rib course 8, an extra course 10, a separating course 6 and the transfer course 5. Courses 5, 6 and 10 are produced in the same way as courses 1 and 9, the freed loops running back to the course 8 in each case, or the course 5 may be similar to 3. When the tops are separated, by removing the courses 1, the courses 3 and 5 can be set on the needles. The courses 4 can be removed by unravelling while the courses 7 can be removed by withdrawing the course 6. By running both courses 3, 5 on the same row of needles, a ribbed welt, which may enclose a rubber ring is obtainable.
