Abstract
463,830. Gravity-separation apparatus. KOENIGER, W. March 16, 1936, No. 7909. Convention date, March 16, 1935. [Class 46] [Also in Groups XIII and VI] Juice separated from potatoes and like vegetables in a worm press 1 is delivered by a pump 6 to a closed cylinder 21, Fig. 2, at the top of a settling tank 7. Froth develops inside the cylinder causing the floating substances to coagulate into flakes, and eventually some of the flakes escape from the cylinder and are led by rotating blades 22 to a channel 24. The blades 22 are connected to a driving shaft 9 which is provided with scrapers 11 adapted to deliver deposits at the bottom of the tank to an outlet 15. In a modification shown in Fig. 1, the floating substances in a frothy state are withdrawn from a cylinder 8 by way of a channel 13.
