Stationary mixers with rotary stirrers.-An apparatus for cooking palm fruits for the extraction of oil consists of a vessel a in which the fruit is supported on a steam chamber f having steam outlet openings g. The fruit is agitated by arms b' on a rotating axis b. Additional arms i, normally resting against the side of the vessel may be swung into position between the arms b<1> to assist the agitation. Oil flows either down a shoot e and a flap k, or by openings h passing through the steam chamber into a compartment n, and is discharged into a vessel l. The extracted fruits are discharged down the shoot e by withdrawing shutter p and flap k, and rotating the arms b<1>.
