Abstract

Animal blood, for example from slaughter houses, is dried in a continuous process which comprises passing the liquid blood through a chamber wherein it is coagulated by means of steam introduced into the blood, separating the thus produced semi-solid particles from the liquid residue by passage over a perforated surface, and then passing the particles through a series of closed interconnecting heating chambers having heating surfaces against which the particles are continuously impinged, for example by means of paddles on a rotating shaft, whereby the particles are dried.
