Abstract

<PICT:1091152/C6-C7/1> An apparatus for temperature conditioning massecuites or magmas before they are passed to centrifugal machines, comprises tank 11 divided into compartments 13a - d through which extends rotating hollow shaft 25 carrying helical heating coils 29a - d and blades 44. The blades 44 are angularly placed on shaft 25 and extend into the space between shaft 25 and coils 29a - d. The coils tend to urge the material being treated in one direction and the blades tend to urge the material in the opposite direction. The coils 29a - d are interconnected. Each compartment has an inlet opening 21 and an outlet opening 23 which leads to a centrifugal machine. The compartments may be supplied with the same or different materials. The heating fluid (e.g. water) the temperature of which is controlled, enters shaft 25 via inlet 35, passes through shaft 25, circulates through coils 29a - d, and leaves via duct 36.
