Abstract
625,365. Washing coffee. GENERAL FOODS CORPORATION. July 16, 1947, No. 18945. Convention date, May 9, 1941. [Class 58] [Also in Group VI] Green coffee beans, together with extracting liquid, passes by way ot a pipe 96 into the rotating cylindrical screen of a washer 97. Extracting liquid separates from the coffee and collects in a compartment 100. Buckets 110 carried by the rotating screen dip into drainage compartments 111 to pick up wash water which is showered down through the screen. The washed coffee is discharged through a chute 119. Exhausted wash water leaves by way of a pipe 46, and is replaced by fresh water from a tank 113 through a pipe 112. The wash water may be heated by a steam heater 117.
