Abstract

238,749. Male, A., (called Male-Fosse), Nov. 7, 1924. Washing-machines with closed rotary receptacles; washing-apparatus combined with drying- apparatus.-The articles to be washed are fed from a hopper 7 into the upper end of an inclined perforated cylinder 2 which is rotated on bearings 5 in a tank 1 of washing liquor by worm gearing 14, 13. The articles pass out from the other end of the cylinder on to an endless belt 17, whence they are conevyed to the top of the first drying tower 19, comprising inclined staggered baffles 20. A second drying tower 22 identical in construction is provided from which the articles pass to a final drying tower 25 closed at its upper end and supplied through a pipe 27 at its lower end with a current of hot air. The water is freed from impurities in a separator 10, is reheated and circulated and sprayed into the tank from a pipe 12.
