Abstract

236,936. Hertenbein, L. July 9, 1924, [Convention date]. Endless band conveyers, fibres, granular and plastic material carried on; draining.-In drying pulverulent materials, such as washed coal dust, the material is fed from a draining belt on to a pervious conveyer b which passes through a series of chambers having upper and lower compartments d, f communicating with a hot air supply and a vacuum apparatus respectively, so that water is withdrawn from the material and the drying completed by the hot air drawn through the conveyer. The partitions d<1> between the chambers are formed with prongs d<2> arranged on adjacent partitions in staggered formation to plough the material on the conveyer. The dried material is discharged through doors provided in hoppers formed at the bottoms of the lower compartments of the chambers. The upper compartments may be traversed, by gilled pipes through which steam is passed.
