Abstract

191,392. Zalocostas, D. G., (Assignee of Sheet Metal Workers, Ltd.). Jan. 6, 1922, [Convention date]. Endless - band conveyers, granular material carried on. -In apparatus for use particularly in dehydrating crystals such, for example, as crystals of ferrous sulphate, the crystals pass through a hopper 14, Fig. 1, having a V-shaped spreader 15 on one side, on to a conveyer belt 17 formed of corrugated slats 21, Fig. 2, and are discharged into a hopper 34, any crystals adhering to the belt being split off therefrom by the opening of the spaces between the slats as they pass over the driving-sprockets 22 of the belt and the action of a rotary striker 26. Hot air or gas passes through the chamber enclosing the belt in the opposite direction to that of the crystals. A tray 35 is provided between the runs of the belt to carry away liquid formed during the drying process.
