Fats, extracting by solvents.-A dry cleaning apparatus comprises a washer A with a clothes agitator 38, a tank 34 for supply of washing fluid, a second tank 11 into which the fluid is led after washing, and a pump 16 for circulating air and vapour from the washer through a condenser 13 and a separator 14 and the second tank 11, until all the vapour is condensed. A steam jacket 35 with tubular stay bolts 37 extending therethrough is spaced round the washer A containing a perforated rotary drum 38 with blades 38<1>. Air and moisture are withdrawn by a pump 7 from clothes fed into the washer, steam being led into the jacket by a pipe 49. The jacket is then water cooled, and the clothes washed with fluid, which is finally led by a pump 9 through a button separator 10 and filter 39 into tank 11. The jacket is then steam heated and air circulated as above until no vapour is seen in a sight-tube 65 to condense at the bottom of the condenser, when the jacket is cooled. Air is sucked from a pipe 68 by a pump 16 through the clothes or wool until they are fully aerated, when the drum is stopped and the clothes withdrawn. The fluid is led from the tank 11 to a still 21 and thence through a condenser 26, filter 29 and mixer 31 to the tank 34 by pipes with valves. A pipe 23 leads from the top of the tank 11 to a breather coil in the condenser.
