Abstract

294,752. Porteus, G. June 25, 1927. Continuous-discharge apparatus with stationary containers.-In a mixing, drying, and cooking apparatus of the type in which the material is fed into a conical chamber from above and discharged through the lower end after being agitated or stirred by a centrally-disposed worm, the upper end of the chamber is fittedwith rotary and fixed bearer bars carrying intermeshing teeth &c. above a perforated plate with a revolving brush situated below the plate above a second perforated plate through which the material passes to the :mixing chamber. The material is fed into an upper chamber in which is a fixed perforated plate 5, above which rotates beater bars 2 having teeth 4 intermeshing with teeth on fixed bar 3. The material falling through the plate 5 is treated by a revolving brush 6 arranged over a second perforated plate 7 through which it falls into the steam-jacketed chamber 1 in which it is agitated by a worm 11. At the base of the container are a rotary wiper and a perforated segment 9 the openings in which can be closed by a movable segment 8. In a modification the material passes to a further chamber fitted with a rotary brush and screen, and the worm 11 is fitted with a helical steam pipe.
