Abstract
463,424. Collapsable display stands. BARBER, C. H. Sept. 27, 1935, No. 26715. [Class 3 (ii)] In a display stand of the kind comprising a vertical panel provided with shelves adapted to collapse flush with the panel, each shelf is cut from or made to fit bodily into an aperture in the panel and is adapted to pivot about a hinge formed by the lower portion of the shelf engaging with the edge of the aperture and with a support on the back of the panel. In the embodiment shown in Figs. 2, 3 and 5, the shelf B, cut out of a panel A, is formed with a bevel edge b and with projections bl which by engaging with parts b<2> of the panel and with the lower edge of a sheet C secured to the rear of the panel, serve as a hinge and support for the shelf. Additional support for the shelf is provided by the projection a<4>. The support C may comprise a bar extending horizontally across the aperture a<1>. Projections b<3>, Fig. 10, may be formed on long shelves to provide additional support. In a modification, the shelf pivots rearwardly through the aperture a<1>, the support C being below the shelf. The stand may comprise a single panel supported by a strut, or a number of panels hinged together about a vertical axis.
