Abstract
401,628. Picture frames and mounts. MACMILLAN & CO., Ltd. and HEATH, R. J., 10, St. Martin's Street, Leicester Square, London. Aug. 4, 1933, No. 21978. [Class 11.] In a frame and mount for displaying a series of pictures with relatively small margins one at a time so as to present the appearance of fullsized mounted pictures, the mount, or the backs of the frame, or both are recessed so that the picture may be slid in between the mount and the back of the frame and rests on the non-recessed part of the mount. The assembly shown in Fig. 1 comprises a frame 2, mount 3, and back 5, and the picture 7 may be slid between the mount and back by means of an opening 8 in the side, top, or bottom of the frame, and lies in a recess 6 of the mount and is thereby properly positioned. A recess 9 in the back permits gripping of the picture for withdrawal. Thus, although the picture has only a narrow margin 10 and is little larger than the opening in the mount, it presents the appearance of a fullsized mounted picture. The recess 6 may be wholly provided in the mount 6, or partly in the mount and partly in the back 5, or wholly in the back 5, and in each case may be formed by a hollowing of the mount or back or, as shown in Fig. 5, by a structure comprising two laminµ. A guiding strip 12 of celluloid or like material may be provided to guide the edge 7a of the picture under the edge 3a of the mount.
