Abstract
463,025. Sewing - machines. MAUSERWERKE AKT. - GES. Aug. 6, 1936, No. 21682. Convention date, Sept. 20, 1935. Addition to 460,337. [Class 112] The differential-feed device described in the parent Specification is provided with with manually or pedally-operated means for varying the differential effect while the machine is in motion. The feed stroke of the main feed dog 2 remains constant as determined by the adjusted position of the end of the arm 15 in the slot in the rocker arm 18. The feed stroke of the auxiliary feed dog 3 is varied by moving the end 54 of the arm 24 in the slot 26. This is effected during operation of the machine by rocking an external lever 40 on the shaft 12. This causes a second arm 38 to raise or lower a link 37 fixed to the feed arm 24 at 36. Preferably a pair of stops 45, 46 are adjusted in a graduated slot 49, so that for normal working, the spring 42 presses the arm 40 against the upper stop and so ensures a constant degree of difference of feed between the dogs. To alter this difference to suit the work, the lever 40 is, at the appropriate time, depressed by hand or foot to engage the lower stop, so altering the stroke of the auxiliary feed dog 3. On releasing the lever 40, the spring returns it to its former position.
