Abstract

462,282. Feeding sheets. FABER & SCHLEICHER AKT.-GES. Nov. 18, 1936, No. 31609. Convention date, Dec. 3, 1935. [Class 100 (i.)] The sheet-feeding mechanism described in Specification 399,208 is modified by employing a plain feed roller 2 in place of a suction roller for advancing the sheets which are separated from the pile by means of suction nozzles 4 arranged to revert to their position around the side edges of the sheet after seizing a sheet and delivering it between the feed roller 4 and sets of co-operating pressure rollers 5, 8. The separated sheet 3 is preferably fed under sheets 6, 7 to form an overlapping stream, and the pressure rollers 8 are preferably mounted so as to move to and from the roller 2, the sheet 3 being advanced while the rollers 8 are raised, the sheets 6, 7 being preferably tautened at this time as described in the prior Specification. The rear edge of the pile may be acted upon by suction separators, and for dealing with stiff sheets these may form the sole separating means, the pile being arranged so that its upper surface is in a plane tangential to the feed roller 2, all as described in connection with the prior Specification. A further set of rollers may be used arranged between the rollers 5, 8.
