Abstract

461,936. Electric heating resistances. SCHOTT & CO., DR. ING. Dec. 18, 1935, No. 35109. Convention date, Dec. 20, 1934. [Class 39 (iii)] A tubular meta sheath a is lined with insulating tubes b ir lengths of from 10 to 15 cms., and made of a ceramic paste lightly burnt so as to yield to finger pressure and a coiled resistance c is then inserted and the internal cavity is filled with dry sand. The ends of the tubular sheath are sealed and the sheath is bent or shaped to the required form. The ends of the insulating tubes are smoothed off at right angles to the axes of the tubes before insertion in the sheath. The insulators crumble without forming sharp fragments when the sheath is bent or shaped. They are preferably made from a mixture of soapstone, magnesium oxide, and quartz sand burnt at 800‹ C.
