440,890. Furnaces and ovens with resistance heating-elements. GRENE, G. H. S., and WILD-BARFIELD ELECTRIC FURNACES, Ltd., North Road, Holloway, London. July 5, 1934, No. 19803. [Class 39 (iii)] Removable furnace and oven heating- elements consist of metal tubes 1 of straight or hairpin form with end parts 2 of reduced resistivity where then pass through the walls, the reduced resistivity being obtained by making the ends solid or by reducing the bore. Hairpins may be constructed by joining straight tubes by a solid bend 3, or a flat plate, or by bending a tube which is unrolled at the bend. The lengths of the solid portions may differ in different elements. In Fig. 9 elements 7, 8 fed from A +, A -, and B +, B -, develop most heat in zones A, B, respectively.
