Abstract

461,797. Vaporizers. DUTZMANN, W. July 3, 1936, No. 18555. Convention date, July 4, 1935. [Class 7 (iii)] A liquid fuel which is volatilizable with difficulty is atomized with the aid of heat prior to an admixture of air and water vapour ; the mixture is heated and further air supplied to it in stages of which at least one is in the course of the heating and one at the conclusion of the heating. Heavy fuel fed through a nozzle 6 is sprayed against the glowing wall of a hot bulb 10 in the exhaust pipe 2 and the products pass into a mixing chamber 12 having an inlet 13 for air drawn through apertures 17 opposite a moistened wick 14. The mixture is further heated in an inner vertical coil 3, the lower end of which receives fresh air from a pipe 18, this mixture being reheated in an outer coil leading to a mixing chamber 7. In this chamber, a cone 22 controls the passage of the mixture and a suction operated air valve 20 the entrance of a final supply of air. To increase the temperature of the exhaust gases, the cylinders eject them through a nozzle 23 surrounded by air ports, the air permitting the completion of the combustion of the gases.
