Abstract

461,345. Electric fans. ROGERS, H. May 15, 1935, Nos. 14193/35 and 12141/36. [Class 110 (i)] An electric fan, adjustable in position but normally fixed, has a guard frame 10 surrounding the fan wheel and fitted with deflecting blades 9 in front of the fan wheel 6, such guard frame being slowly rotated by a reduction gear from the motor shaft. The blades curved longitudinally are of spring metal to allow deformation whereby sockets 18 in their ends can be placed on pivot pins 19 on the frame. The blades on opposite halves of the frame are oppositely curved. A rod 20 connecting all the blades gives simultaneous adjustment. The reduction gearing consists of a stepped double pinion 22 operated by an eccentric 21 on the motor and fan shaft 7. The double pinion rolls round a frictionally-held internally-toothed ring 23 and drives an internally-toothed ring 24 which is attached to the hub 14 of the guard frame. If the guard frame is forcibly held, then slipping occurs at the frictionally held ring 23.
