Abstract

461,141. Bearings; printing-machines. QUICK, C. G., and SHADRACK, H. W. Aug. 10, 1935, No. 22625. [Class 12 (i)] [Also in Group XVI] A ball bearing for a printing roller has its inner races 10, 13 spaced apart by a sleeve 14. Adjustment of the bearing is effected by adding or removing shims 24, thus altering the axial spacing of the outer races 17, 18. These are carried by the member 25 having a spherical portion engaging a seating 27 to make the bearing self-aligning. The seating member 27 is eccentrically mounted in the housing 28 so that the lateral position of the shaft 9 can be adjusted by rotating the worm 31. In a modification the member 27 is capable of sliding axially in the housing 28, whilst in other modifications the eccentric adjustment of the member 27 is omitted.
