Abstract
459,955. Fastening boots and shoes. GRICE, A. G., Breakers, St. Margaret's-at- Cliffe, Kent. Aug. 10, 1935, No. 22592. [Class 17 (ii)] Boots and shoes of the kind having an opening at the rear end closeable by a lace 3 are adjustable also at the instep by means of a single lace carried around from the securing means at the rear to securing means at the front under guide means such as side flaps 7, hooks, or the like. The adjusting and securing means at the front of the shoe may comprise hooks 6a with which the lace 3 is engaged to adjust the shoe across the instep. Such adjustment may be only that required to take up the stretch in the upper across the instep which occurs during wear, or the upper may have a front opening with eyeletted flaps closable by an auxiliary lace and which may be adjusted by the engagement of the rear fastening and adjusting lace 3 with means, such as hooks, near the upper ends of the flaps.
