Abstract

496,056. Athletic footwear. SAGE, P. D., and HEADLAM & SIMS, Ltd. May 28, 1937, No. 14844. [Class 17 (ii)] The uppers of boots for athletic wear, especially for skating, are padded in the rear of and in the front of the ankle portions at the sides to relieve pressure and strain on the foot produced by tight lacing. The pads may extend as shown, the forward ones 1 extending up the leg between upper and lining to near the top of the boot, and the rear pad 5 which is roughly of inverted T-shape with its arms extending towards and terminating close to and at a point between the ends of the forward ones 1. The tongue 7 also may be padded at 8, and ankle side straps 6 may be provided extending from the lacing opening across the ankles to under the heel.
