Abstract

454,290. Athletic footwear. MOBBS BROS. (EMBEKAY), Ltd., and WRIGHT, P. A., Durban Road, Kettering. July 8, 1935, No. 19440. [Class 17 (ii)] A football or like boot has incorporated inside the upper during manufacture a canvas or like insert adapted to function independently of the upper as an ankle bandage. The insert may, as shown, comprise one or more pieces of canvas 4 shaped to envelop the heel and instep and secured at the lower edge when lasting the upper to the insole. It may extend from about the centre 7 of one edge of the boot around the heel to a corresponding point 7<1> on the other side, with vertical forward edges 8 merging into an upper edge 11 which lies within the upper edge of the boot upper. By means of eyelet holes 13 in the insert lying inside of and adjacent to certain of the eyelets 14 in the boot upper it is drawn about the ankle by the lacing which fastens the boot. The insert may be secured to the boot quarters by lines of stitching 15.
