[Class 39 (i)] [See also Group XVIII] A sign comprises a block of artificial materlial containing a cellulose derivative, said block comprising two or more sections, at least one of which has formed on its surface a groove or grooves in which is or are disposed one or more electric discharge tubes constituting the sign matter. In the embodiment shown, the sign is built up of a number of blocks, each comprising sections 7, 8 formed with grooves 19, 20 to receive a discharge tube shaped as a character. The electrodes 10 of each tube are connected to plug and socket terminals 13, 12 adapted to engage corresponding socket and plug terminals on adjacent blocks. In a modification, grooves are formed in the section 7 only.
