[Class 80 (iii)] [See also Group V] A plunger of a press for consolidating powdered materials is reciprocated through a ball - and - socket connection, as at 18, by a lever 27 loaded by an adjustable spring tension or by a weight 25 to give uniform pressure and controlled through a bell-crank lever 21 operated by a cam 20 on a main shaft 19. The weight 25 is carried by a steel band engaging a sector 23 pivoted to the bell-crank lever and having a stop 26 engaging the lever 27. A spring 28 urges down the lever 21. The stroke may be adjusted by an eccentric 29 forming a stop for the lever 21.
