Abstract

458,217. Aerials. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd.,' Crown House, Aldwych, London. Jan. 27, 1936, No. 2544. Convention date, Jan. 26, 1935. [Class 40 (v)] [See also Group X] The upper part 18 of an aerial 12, Fig. 1, for a motor-car, is mounted to " give " so as to avoid damage should it strike against an obstacle. The top of the aerial is provided with a loading capacity and inductance forming a stream-lined casing 47. Fig. 2 shows the joint between the two flexible parts, the restoring-force being applied by a spring 31 anchored at 32 and a connecting cable 30 anchored at 33. Fig. 3 shows the stream-lined member 47, made in two halves 35, 36 to form a condenser and containing an inductance coil 38. The capacity member is insulated from the aerial at 40, but the inductance-coil is connected to the latter through a bracket 45 and pin 44, and to the capacity member through a bracket 46.
