467,522. Vehicle obstruction-indicators. CARR, W. Jan. 30, 1936, No. 2810. [Class 103(ii)] A device for warning the driver when the vehicle encounters an obstruction comprises a plurality of arms 5, 9 projecting outwardly from the front or rear of the vehicle and connected by means such as a rod, wire, metal chain, or wire-netting, &c. 12, at least one of the arms being associated with a fixed contact member or members in such a manner that when the arm is moved laterally, by one of the components of the device encountering an obstruc. tion, the arm engages a contact-member and completes a circuit to energize an electric lamp, horn, bell, or other warning device. As shown, the arms 5, 9 are mounted on the bumper 4, the arm 5 being insulated therefrom by fibre or other packing 6 while the arm 9 is mounted with the interposition of similar packing 8 in a bifurcated contact-member 7 directly secured to the bumper, a terminal on the arm 9 being connected with the battery circuit. The arms may be mounted directly on the vehicle body.
