Abstract

519,764. Aerials. MAGNA DYNE RADIO. March 30, 1939 No. 9977. Convention date, March 31, 1938. [Class 40 (v)] The outer tubular part of a telescopic aerial for motor vehicles is supported in a vertical positior by a pair of suction cups enclosec in metallic housings and adaptec to adhere to a smooth surface, e.g. a windscreen. As shown in the Figure, the aerial comprises a fixed tubular part 1 into which the rod 8 slides, a stuffing-box 6 being provided to prevent the entrance of moisture and the inside of the tube 1 being parkerized to prevent corrosion. Good electrical contact between the two parts is maintained by the spring 7. Each of the supports comprises a rubber suction-cup 2 protected by a metallic housing 11 and secured by a bolt 18 to a short post 3 or 5 through a transverse hole in which the tubular part of the aerial passes, being locked at the lower support by a setscrew 4.
