Abstract
515,892. Aerials. TRANSITONE AUTOMOBILE RADIO CORPORATION. June 14, 1938, No. 17631. Convention date, June 17, 1937. [Class 40 (v)] A motor-car aerial, mounted on the cowl 2 of the car, comprises a plurality of telescoping sections 7, 8, 9 so that the driver may adjust its length. The main section 7 is attached to the cowl 2 by the supports 5 and 6. The upper support 5, Fig. 4, is a hollow knob 12 of insulating material seated on a resilient ring 13 of insulating material and having a transverse opening through which the aerial extends. The aerial rod 7 is clamped by a metallic strap 17 attached to a nut 18 which is drawn by means of the screw 22 towards an insulating clamping- piece 14 engaging the inner surface of the cowl. The screw head 23 serves as a terminal post for the lead-in conductor, the shield 25 of which is earthed by connecting it to the cowl wall through the connection 26. The lower support 6, Fig. 5 (not shown) is similar, but the transverse opening extends only partly through the knob which forms a seat for the lower end of the aerial. A small hole in the bottom of the knob drains-off any water which may enter the aerial structure. The outer end of the binding screw also engages an aperture in the aerial rod to prevent rotation of the aerial.
