Abstract
457,736. Parachutes. TRICAU, M., 98, Rue Erlanger, Paris. May 13, 1936, No. 13567. Convention date, May 14, 1935. [Class 4] A parachute comprises independent panels fixed to shroud lines, the side edges of the panels being connected by gussets having suet a width that they are not subjected to any tension from the panels. As shown in Fig. 1 the parachute is built up of separate panels 1 secured at their edges to sennits 2 which meet at the polar cap and which extend below the lower edges of the panels and meet in the shrouc lines 3. The side edges of adjoining panels are joined by gussets 4 which expand when the parachute opens initially and which tend tc close, forming a tube, during descent. Circular reinforcing sennits 5, Fig. 3, of sufficient slack ness between the panels to allow the parachute to open flat, may connect all the panels and the opening around the polar cap may be provided with a closure member which may overlap the top edges of the panels and permits the escape of air.
