Abstract
131,498. Davies, G. E. Oct. 7, 1918. Parachutes.-A parachute comprises an envelope connected at its periphery to a hoop c made in two parts hinged together, as shown in Fig. 3, so that they may be folded to collapse the parachute as shown in Fig. 4, or opened out as indicated in Fig. 1. The envelope comprises inner and outer members a, b stitched together around the periphery and across two diameters, so as to form four pockets, each of which is formed with an aperture d at the apex, through which apertures air enters during descent and inflates the pockets. The parachute is suspended at h from the aircraft and is opened out by the weight of the aviator.
