Abstract
457,276. Valve circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Electra House, Victoria Embankment, London, and GEORGE, D. F., The Chalet, Shenfield Gardens, Hutton, Essex. May 24, 1935, No. 15169. [Class 40 (v)] A protective arrangement to prevent damage to thermionic valves due to rapid rise in anode current on cessation of grid current when the loading oscillations fail from any reason utilizes the drop in grid current to energize a device which reduces the screen-grid voltage of the valve to such an extent that the anode current is reduced to a low value. The Figure shows a screen-grid transmitting amplifier valve 1 fed from the drive oscillator through condenser 14. A gas-discharge tube 7 of the " Thyratron " (Registered Trade Mark) type is connected across the screen grid-cathode circuit, and its control grid is connected to a tapping on the control grid resistance 4 of the valve 1. On cessation of grid current the valve 7 is energized to reduce the screen gridcathode potential to about 15 volts.
